With switch in park lamp mode or headlamp mode, current flows through the tail lamps and license plate lamp - on newer models, rear side marker lamps. The instrument panel lamps work in conjunction with tail lamp circuit in the event tail lamp fuse is blown. Voltage is applied through the tail lamp fuse to the headlamp switch - with headlamp in park mode or headlamp mode - current flows through the switch to the instrument panel fuse to the panel lamps in the dash.
