first leg they arrived in El Paso seven hours ahead of the Sunset Limited (a crack passenger train). On the way back from New York, they stopped in Detroit for three days and visited the Cadillac plant.

Remember, folks, this was before the age of smooth, interstate highways and - yes - they did have the car shipped to Havana. Most amazing was one of the driver's remarks upon return, "If we had wanted to do a record trip, I believe we could cut the time in half."

Tech Talk: Tail Lamp Operation
Voltage is applied at all times through the tail lamp fuse to the headlamp switch. With switch in park lamp mode or headlamp mode, current flows through the tail lamps and license plate lamp - on newer models, rear side marker lamps.

The instrument panel lamps work in conjunction with tail lamp circuit in the event tail lamp fuse is blown.

Front parking lamps and front side marker lamps are usually on a separate fused circuit - so are the turn signal lamps.
