New Officers to take office May, 1,

Election for club officers and directors for the ensuing year were
conducted at the April 4th meeting and the results are as follows:
Little Brother Hits The Scene Not since the mid 1920's has a sibling come out of Detroit that offers so much promise as the new V-Series CTS scheduled for delivery later this year. Back in the 20's, The Cadillac Motor Car Company caused a stir when they introduced the now famous LaSalle. Noted as 'the companion car' to Cadillac's other line of sedans and coupes, the LaSalle was offered as a competitive model to compete with Buick, Pontiac, Chrysler and Ford products, just to name a few. Arguably, the other two best known siblings to come out of Detroit have been the Pony Car - of Mustang fame, and the Corvette. Now, Cadillac Motor Division has another sibling, which is destined to knock the socks off the other sedans in their class. It is known as the CTS - V Series which offers the ultimate in comfort and performance for a mid-sized luxury sedan. One immediately gets the feeling that something is going on when they notice the huge 18" wheels and those extra large (14") rotors and Brembo brakes. Not to mention, the 5.7 liter LS6 V-8 engine pumping out 400 HP and 395 ft lbs. of torque through a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission. That's right! It's a MANUAL … another first since the late thirties! The performance stats are equally impressive with its sub 5-second tour of zero to 60 MPH - 4.6 to be exact. And, a stunning 107-MPH through the lights in the quarter mile in the low 13's. How's that for a sedan?
Cadillac's new CTS - V Series Performance Sedan As we go to press, Cadillac's
Racing Division is campaigning the CTS V-Series Racecar at Sebring,
Florida for the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Speed World Challenge
Championship. It is scheduled to be run on the weekend of March 20th &
21st. UPDATE: Cadillac Racing Division won its first official race since 1949 by taking 1st and 2nd place at the Sebring Raceway on March 21st. Max Angelelli finished in first place followed by Andy Pilgrim who came from the rear of the pack to place the two CTS Series V into the history books. Good show, guys! Later and happy motoring …. Gulf Coast Region completes
CRAM ELECTED TO GCR BOARD Jim Cram, Editor of the Gulf Star and long time member of the Gulf Coast Region was elected by unanimous consent to fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors. Jim fills a position created by the resignation of Ross Irvine, past Director, which occurred in early 2001. This action was taken at the annual Board of Directors meeting which was held December 13, 2003. As noted by W.Y. Lamb, Chairman, the Board can now function as it was intended with the prescribed number of directors participating. Other directors are Frank Koller, Maggi Stewart, R.E. 'Bob' Kraitchar and Steve Stewart, Editor of "The Self Starter". Russ is planning on taking it to the Grand National in Southbend, IN next summer for its inaugural voyage and coming out party. He has already done most of the engine work and is now focusing on the interior. The car is currently at the upholstery shop getting a brand new top and installation of the freshly done seats. Recent photos of the work to date looks real good and all should be completed within the next several months. Russ, who has numerous Cadillac's, a LaSalle coupe and a sprinkling of Vettes, recently shared some photos with me and I saw the car several weeks ago. It really looks nice and it is sure to be 'head-turner'. As you know, Russ does all of the mechanical work on his cars and oversees the upholstery and paintwork which he farmed out on this particular project. Stay tuned for updates and additional photos as they become available. |
